Our Project
Materials chemistry is a highly active area of research. It is an interdisciplinary science that is developing at a rapid pace, intertwining theory and practice on inorganic and organic objects and specific characterization techniques. There are many challenges in this scientific field, but the reversible transfer of electrons from one compound to another has always been of interest as a property of materials.
Oxidation-reduction reactions are the basis of energy conversion processes in living and non-living matter. In the inorganic world, reversible intercalation is the basic operating principle oflithium-ion batteries, which are a significant branch of energy storage today.
More than 20 million organic compounds have been discovered so far, and new ones are constantly being identified. In contrast to the inorganic ones, they have several advantages during redox reactions: diverse composition, easy modeling of the architecture, plasticity in
terms of structural stresses, and, finally, a wide variety of natural resources necessary for their synthesis.
The project is complex fundamental research with a marked interdisciplinary focus, between organic and inorganic, and between education and science. We present a combinatorial approach for synergy between the synthesis of peri-substituted dichalcogen naphthalimides and the study of the reversibility of their redox reactions towards the alkali ions Li+ and Na+ .The obtained results are expected to be published in reputable scientific journals with a high impact factor/rank and those with open access. Scientific achievements are expected to make significant contributions in the field of inorganic and organic materials science and create a symbiotic relationship between universities and scientific institutes, as a desirable working environment for young scientists in Bulgaria
